McBee's lifelong passion for the sea, yachts, and classic ocean liners is evocative of classical builders' models and renderings. Beginning in the early 1800s, the ultra-wealthy commissioned private luxury yachts. Like their mansions, these yachts were designed and built with unimaginably lavish interiors and required fortunes to build and maintain. The yacht served as escapism and symbolized competition among the elite.
From the early 20th century to the superliners of the post-war years, ocean liners were considered among the greatest engineering accomplishments of their time- the concords of their day. The ocean liner was viewed as a symbol of national pride. Ocean liners reflected their nation, society, and the constantly evolving worlds of fashion, interior design, and the arts.
McBee's maritime series has been exhibited at such notable venues, including the Chinese Porcelain Company, NYC, the South Street Seaport Museum, NYC, and the Masterworks Museum of Bermuda, as well as being commissioned for private collections.
